Would anybody be interested in trying to put together a bulk TivoHD purchase? I'm after two and am hoping to pay around the $500 each?
Worth a try?

This was discussed quite a bit on the mailing list when TiVoHD first came out, but I don't think anyone was able to secure any decent discounts.

You can count me in. I have already convinced one workmate to buy one and he loves it. I can probably work on a few others here too.... let me know.

I can probably shift about 3-5 units here at work. Are you expecting the $500 to include wireless adapter?

I have tomorrow off work, so I will do some asking to see if anyone can do me a good deal for a group buy. Let me know how many units you would be interested in purchasing if I can get a good deal.

Jeremy, Ill grab one if you can get hold of some. Please let me know as I am very interested if I can get one at $500. I have a TivoHD in the house but want another one for the other room.
This goes for anyone else also. If there are any good deals, please let me know. :)

Here is what I have learnt so far (can anybody confirm?)
1) There is next to NO margin on the Tivo for retailers
2) The cost actualy paid by the retails depends on when they purchased them.
The guy I have been trying to strike a deal with manages a retail chain and tells me they purchased the units when they were first release and paid somewhere in the vacinity of $590 for them. Although he has told me to wait until next month, post free view release, there might be 'something' on the go.
Sorry for the screw around but will keep you posted. If anyone else finds a good price in the mean time let us know.
Regards,
Jeremy

Yes I have also been told the same by a salesman that TiVo has told them they can't give heavy discounts to a TiVo sale as they want their RRP pricing to stay firm.
Dick Smith offered me $650, but it seems hard to go under that. I will keep a look out too.
Seems TiVo are happy to do the discounting themselves as when North Sydney DSE re-opened a couple of weeks ago, they had a dude dressed in a TiVo outfit handing out $100 discount vouchers.
Jeremy, I have also approached TiVo themselves to see if they can throw around a deal for us or some of their discount vouchers for a group buy. They have passed my request onto a specialised team within the company to discuss. Will post any news here as it comes through.

Picked up a TiVo HD from JB HiFi Hornsby (northern Sydney) for $600 on Thursday evening (TiVo only. No network adapter)
They had a pile with a sign on top. It had $699 crossed out and 'ask for a deal'.
No negotiating; the salesman offered $600 up front and I took it

That would be great - I hope this goes through as I am really after more TiVo boxes. Ill just add that I am now after 2 TiVo HD boxes instead of one as I originally posted. Please keep the details coming as the info comes though. :)

I keen too as well, but considering the recent announcement of Internode & Tivo it maybe worth holding on a bit longer to see if they will release any deals...
Otherwise keen as.

The SMH mentioned this morning that internode would be offering the Tivo, a Wireless router, Wireless card and an unlim Internet plan for somewhere between $79-$99 a month on a 24 month contract. ($1896 - $2376).
A little pricey if you ask me.
But lends merit to the comment of wait untill then end of march/april for a better deal?

Just a quick update that nothing has come through yet from TiVo. Looks like I will have to go chasing them. Will do so today.

I have just noticed on Whirlpool that DOMINOES employees can get a TiVo for $499 including wireless. Anyone know someone that works there to suss out how this deal works?

This morning I have been able to find them for $580 (bulk purchase, excluding wirless adapter).
BUT it has now become more about the hunt to match $499 with wireless then it has about actualy owning one.

Seems like TiVo don't want to talk about a bulk purchase. Still no response after a second chase-up. Even a NO reply would be appreciated if that's their response!
I'll keep you posted.

Given the lack of response and flexibility from Tivo (the company) and the whole debarkel around the price of the home networking pack I have decided to abandon my search for a tivo and go for foxtel with IQ. Not as good I know but i'm "standing up".

TiVo has finally gotten back to me to say they cannot offer any bulk purchase deals: "We do not do bulk deals because as you can understand this only undermines our retail presence."
All I can suggest is you try to get the best price you can through a retailer and share your best price on here so others can price match. Good hunting!

If anyone is still interested in buying a TiVo HD, I have some new units available for $599.

Peter.
