I want to get an SV35 Seagate 500GB drive for the tivo. Will this one work? Could I put two of these in the same tivo or do they have the same problem as the 7200.9 & 7200.10 drives?

On it's own it should work fine (assuming it's the PATA version;)).
But in a pair I don't know. I don't think it would, as none of the other current generation Seagate drives do.

I put the 500GB SV35.2 in and it works just fine.
I tried pairing it with another seagate 7200.10 and it didnt work.
Will seagates work in pairs with another drive? If I put the seagate with a WD would that work?

The Seagate may work with a WD or other drive, but there are no hard and fast rules.
Pretty much all current generation Seagate drives will not work in a pair with another Seagate drive, but there is no database as to which drives they will work with.
Anyway, if you can avoid it try not to use 2 drives in a TiVo as you are twice as likely to loose all your shows. In a 2 drive TiVo if either drive fails you have basically lost all your shows from both drives (a bit like a striped raid array), so with 2 drives there is twice the chance of a drive failing. 500Gb is big enough for most people.
