Hi
Running image 1.3 on an old philips series 1.
Its been doing daily calls every day sucessfully but the time is still one hour out since DLS came into effect.
I have forced two daily calls and both suceeded, but no update of the time.
Any ideas?
OK, while I am here, how do I get the 30 second skip enabled on the S1 tivo? Possible?
THANKS!!!!!

Hi there. You posted this in the TiVoHD area which is actually for the commercial TiVo sold in Australia, not the hobbyist Series 1 OzTiVo. Therefore I have moved it to the appropriate area, just in case you were wondering :)
That aside, a forum search with the keyword daylight reveals the following recent thread on the same issue: http://forums.oztivo.net/showthread.php?t=1950 which may be just what you are looking for. See how you go.

If you mean the hobbyist TiVo then it already is.... if you mean the commercial TiVoHD then no it is not possible.

Thanks Darren, I did a search, but obviously not a good one.
Ill try the settime command and see if it survives a daily call.
Thanks.
Oh and I have a series 1 tivo not a HD tivo. Managed to find the select play 30 select shortcut to get the 30 second skip working, prior to that the key would cause it to go to the end/start and major marker points only.

settime will not say current.
That thread is a little confusing.
The information in this wiki (http://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view/Main/WA2006DaylightSavingChange) is still current and should fix your problem.
Peter.

Ok, timezone files are not your issue, as you were already up to date.
I think you are guessing right about a port being blocked.
Port 37 on your firewall/router needs to be open for the time calls to be made.

Hi Peter
Is this a one off thing or will the port need to stay open.
Does it seem like I have the correct time zone settings?
I'll try mucking around with the router. Would you recommend using a fixed IP address for the Tivo so that the routing works after reboot of the router/tivo?
Thanks for your help.
Len

I opened ports 36-38 and directed them to 192.168.0.3 and reran the process
Still not working. Do ADSL modems have firewalls in them as well as routers? Might I need to do something with my modem?

Ok, port 37 is one of the standard time port used for NTP calls across the internet.
This port needs to be open for the TiVo to make it's daily calls.
I'm glad you have it working, but both last night & now I have tested the call myself using the same server that is failing for you, and it worked fine.

This will probably not matter for daily calls as it rotates the servers, but you still have some issues with either your router or ISP. It should not be failing this call.

Could it be a DNS server issue? I sometimes have problems at home resolving them. OpenDNS setting have certainly improved our iphone's performance, but I have never sought to use them on the desktops or even in the modem.
Well Ill go home today and see if it survived the daily call.
Thanks again
Cheers

It shouldn't be a dns issue as you are calling the IP directly. More like a routing issue.
Peter.
