Hi, I am interested in setting up a TiVo with the sole intention of recording Foxtel. I have a Topfield for recording FTV.
Will the TiVo control my Foxtel Box ?
It is an old satellite system STU700.
Wat exactly is an IR Blaster ?
How does it connect to the TiVo and the Foxtel Box ?
Is the old Foxtel Satelite (not new digital) included inthe guide for WA ?
Sorry for so many questions but I am really keen to get going but want to make sure it will work for me.
Thanks

An IR Blaster is a little device that connects to the IR port on the back of your TiVo and "blasts" Infrared out the emitters at the front.

See above. The emitters on the end of the IR Blaster should be pointed at your Foxtel Box. The TiVo then will transmit the signal and change the channel for you!

I believe Foxtel Satelite is included in the guides for WA, though it might be better to ask the guys on the mailing list over at http://minnie.tuhs.org/TiVo

That's why they call it a newbie forum! :D Hope I've answered your questions.
Cheers

Can anyone confirm the above ?
Also does anyone have a TiVo for sale in Australia ?
Is there any operating here in Western Australia ?

Scuba Gary,
What kind of Tivo are you looking for? Ie: Phillips, Cachecard Installed, Hard Drive size, etc.
Regards
Peter
