I've downloaded the Thomson image and poured it onto a new drive.

trying to run guided setup, it fails to connect.

Thomson (UK) model, with Turbonet. Runs fine on my old image, but I'm finally shifting over to the new emaulator.

running on a static IP.

I've telneted in and chased down to at least the first stage of the problem - the gateway route doesn't seem to add sucessfully.

In particular, there's code in rc.sysinit that tries to set up the 'ppp' connection, and in doing so overwrites /sbin/route with route.fake.

I've tried commenting out the entire ppp thing, and the machine won't boot up.

if I let it boot up as per the image, then try executing route.tivo, the machine crashes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

It looks like you are having a similar problem as a friend of mine who is trying to get his new Thomson working on the new image (release candidate).

He is "Chieftain" who posted a request for help a few days back.

I am trying to help from Sydney, but have no experience with this type of Tivo or image.

The Tivo will not sucessfully connect to the emulator. Any clues?

Thanks,
Craig
