View Full Version : Can I fix the startup animation without a NIC?

I'd like to fix the startup animation, but I don't have a network card. This means that I cannot follow the following step:

3. Enter the following address into a browser, where the x's are your TiVo's IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/mfs/Resource/VideoClip

Is there any other way to figure out the line number? If not, can I simply use 1507 or could that cause problems if the number doesn't match? (I'm using the 1.62 image.)

I've done the startup animation at least a dozen times on different machines (Sony, Philips and even a UK Thompson running the latest OzTiVo image) and it has always been 1507.

Of course I take no responsibility if it isn't for you, but you will have to be pretty damn unlucky!

Thanks Darren. I'll give it a try.

I have already answered your question the first time you posted it in the announce thread (http://forums.oztivo.net/showpost.php?p=9606&postcount=9)

I agree with Darren and as I said then, "You could probably do it with dumpobj, but realistically if you are running an NZTiVo or ZATiVo or OzTivo image the number will be 1507 based on the hundreds that have already installed it."

I have just checked both my TiVos and they have 1593 and are running NzTiVo Ver 1.5

That is the first I have heard, have you done the update?

What numbers do you get next to LongOpen.mpv when you open xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/mfs/Resource/VideoClip ?

Or better still could you please post the whole screen.

Peter.

I did the update on one TiVo using 1593 and it worked with no problems.

Ok, so are you using the SONY image?

Peter.

Islander

Yes the Sony image

petestrash

Ok, that solves the mystery.

As it says, the instructions are only for Philips based images. And all of these will have 1507 as the file number.

Using this video clip on Sony images leaves a jump at the end changing between the Philips and Sony animated backdrops.

You might prefer this to the sound drop out though.

I thought I must have missed the obvious somewhere.:o

Sorry to have caused a flurry.

No problems, but I was very curious to find out why you were different.

The patch file has been downloaded over 1000 times.

I have asked people to email me if they encounter a different number as you could hose your TiVo if you enter the wrong number.

I have only received a few queries re different numbers (mostly 1506) and these turned out to be people not following the instructions properly. At least 2 have hosed their system by using 1506.

All cool.

Peter.
