DVD Recorders

Anyone running a cheap DVD recorder from their Tivo that they can recommend?

What is the image quality like when played on another tv?

Does it allow the Tivo option 'send to VCR' to be used to backup tv shows?

I was thinking of buying a cheapy and have seen some around the 130 - 200 dollar mark on the net...

I have a DVD recorder, but do not use it to record from the TiVo.

If used this way you are going from a Digital signal to an Analog output on the TiVo, then another conversion from Analog input to Digital on the DVD recorder. There are too many conversions and a loss of quality with each.

I prefer to extract the shows from the TiVo, then burn to a DVD. That way the whole process remains in the Digital domain.

That said if your happy with the quality and don't want/need to remove commercials then there's nothing stopping you from doing it that way.

I didn't think about the quality dropping like that, i better get the network transfer working.
