Resetting remote

My son's managed to bugger up the remote on his tivo, by trying to set it to control the tv, when he meant to set it to control the sound system. I seem to remember that there's a code to put in to reset it, so he can start again? Tried the suggested technique of 3 thumbs down, but that doesn't seem to work. Anyone any ideas?

Hold down the TiVo button and the Pause button until the red LED on the remote lights up constantly (only takes a few seconds). Release these buttons.

Then press the number zero button.

Red LED will then blink (3 times I think from memory).

Remote is then reset to ID zero (default ID).
