Remote stops working

I've got a UK Thompson Tivo running the latest R1.5 image.

Intermittantly (after a day or two) the Tivo stops responding to any remote control commands. It keeps working, i.e playing a recording or watching live tv, but wont accept any commands from the remote until I reboot.

Any ideas?

Follow the suggestion in the last part of that page. If you don't want to do that you can do what some other people do (including myself) and that is to set an entry in the CRON to reboot the TiVo at some time every day (I picked 4AM).

You may also wish to try out the EvtSwitchFix (http://minnie.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view/Software/EvtSwitchFixer) that Martijn wrote to see if it may reduce the frequency (the EvtSwitchFix resolves a different issue, but the two could possibly be related). If you can avoid the phone module then it is also likely to help a great deal. Many people never see the problem (In two years I have only seen the issue twice) so environmental conditions could play a large part.

Considering that you have UK hardware it should also be noted that the v2.5.5 software does not experience any of these issues.

Not yet! Still yet to receive the UK TiVo and I'll probably run it with the OzTiVo installer anyway, but thanks for the tip of the software to try.
