Hi everyone.
Been happily using sTivo (as my wife calls it) for over a year now without any problems. This included being able to access the device remotely through the web.
I was trying to set up the ability to transfer media files to my PC using the following link:
http://minnie.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view/Videoextract/DownloadVideoUsingTytool
But I have obviously done something wrong because:
1) it doesn't work; and
2) i am unable to connect to it through internet explorer or FTP

The only way I can get in is through Telnet.

I believe I followed all the instructions but I must have done something wrong (obviously).
I have a backup of the rc.sysinit.author file, but without ftp access i am unable to restore it.

Everything else seems to still be working perfectly.
Please can someone help !!
Thanks

Rael

I assume you have rebooted and FTP has not been restored.

Since you still have telnet access, you can use either joe or vi to look at your rc.sysinit.author file and see if you can spot the difference between your backup and the file on the TiVo.

Where did you make changes to the file? If on your PC, then you may have corrupted the file with ^M's. After looking at the file, if this is the case then type dos2unix rc.sysinit.author to fix the problem.
