I'm a tivo newbie, and am running into trouble with the Guided Setup.
My tivo is connected via SerialPPPWithXP, PPP-computer installed with WinGate6.0.3. Am able to telnet into tivo box, and tivoweb, so I reckon there's no issue with my serial cable.
I'm stuffed at SetupCall / Connecting -error "Failed. Service unavailable". On further reading, I suspected it could be transparent proxy issue. My ISP is WildInternet.

However, am unable to ping to 131.244.9.101 from my workstation. Hence, unable to diagnose if failure in connection is related to transparent proxy.Confirming that you do in fact have a transparent proxy causing issues
Type the following at a prompt (Should work on all OS):
telnet 131.244.9.101 80
GET /tivo-static/headends/message-20000004.slice HTTP/1.0
Connection: KeepAlive
