    Just joined.Come over from Whirlpool.
Still waiting on a few things before taking the plunge.
Firstly, looking for a suitable replacement for my 1TB hard drive. What I have is working, but you never know..It's a WD10EURS "a/v" drive. I read somewhere the 2TB Purple ones were suitable. How do you get around any size limitations?
Secondly,I have the Media Access Key. I find it very handy to transfer files.Does it disappear with the new firmware? And if so is there an alternative?
    Thanks

    Welcome aboard.

Although the activity on the forum has reduced somewhat recently and many of the posts relate to S1 TiVos a number of the hacks can be applied to S3 machines. One example is TiVoWebPlus that enables web browser access directly to your machine enabling remote control far beyond that of the original Hybrid offering.

I am sure things can only get better.

Yours is a Series 3 or HDTiVo. The series 1 TiVos were purchased in the US and later UK. There were enthusiasts in the US, UK, AU, NZ and others who came up with many 'enhancements' some of which were picked up by TiVo in later models. Examples are ethernet access (S1 used dialup), and remote recording.
Your updated S3 / HD already has three of these hacks applied as part of the upgrade (BufferHack, endpadplus & 30 sec skip).
