Getting all the gear together for my first OzTivo..

After stumbling on this site via an ebay auction for a Tivo in Australia when I was looking for a PVR.
I thought this is a MUST for me, I have been collecting everything I need for my own Tivo setup.
The Stuff I have so far:

A Phillips HDR 112 DVR (Refurbished) w/ Professionally installed Network Adapter. AU$155 SHIPPED...

Yes you'll need one of these for the second drive. I think Darren King will be able to help you with one - http://www.members.westnet.com.au/ki...tivo/index.htm . Not sure how much they are.

Only the CacheCard takes additional RAM. I didn't see anywhere where it says what type of network card is installed (others are TurboNet, Terbonet and X-Factor).

Even if it is a CacheCard, you probably don't need the RAM anyway (our 120Gb TiVo runs OK without it). You can always buy it later.

David has summed it up very well.

I will also back up the statement he makes that (in my own findings) a cachecard is a waste of time and money. All it does is speed up the recorded programs listing (called the "now playing" menu) and not much else. I've done side by side comparison tests of a TiVo with a standard network card and one with a cachecard and the difference was about 1 second, if that. For the price these cards are plus the cost of your 512MB DIMM RAM stick that you have to buy seperately it is simply not worth it - or the extra strain it puts on the power supply which in your case also includes a second hard disk.

As for the hard disk brackets yes you will require another one of these. Although my website at present does not list them I do have some on order and if you want one let me know via email.

Apart from that you are pretty much ready to go and enjoy the TiVo experience :)

Just thought I'd let you know, despite what the USPS site says, the slow boat from the USA usually takes 8-12 weeks.
