This topic is for situations where your TiVo has missing, confusing or generally wrong Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data

Well, it's not missing, confusing, or even wrong since it's presumably intentional, but since switching to the ozTivo mothership, every show has the first 50-odd characters of the description text echoed in the episode title field; it's wrong in the sense that that is not the episode title. Couldn't the proper title be sourced from the internet and put there instead?

It probably can. Not being involved with the EPG/software side I will pass on the info.

Hi Guys

Another Whirlpooler coming across & it's great to be here. First of all a big thankyou to everyone involved in getting the TiVo's back up and running. I have had 8 x TiVo's modded with the help of Darren & Russ in Brisbane. All five TiVo's in the Brisbane area are working great with full guide data. I have another three on the Sunshine Coast (postcode 4558) that have all the local station guide data missing. National channels such as ABC, SBS & NITV have 2 days guide data. All other channels show "to be announced". it was like that two weeks ago when I left and when I got back today it still is the same. The TiVo's last connection to the Oztivo Mothership was this morning.

Hopefully the guys involved in putting together the guide can help. Thanks again to all the volunteers.

Cheers FD13

Has anyone else had an issue of the recorder cutting short on a film? I mean, I set up the recording as normal, but the film starts and finishes later than the times stated so I miss the ending.
It's happened twice now!!! Sort it out please.

The guide data is produced from TV listings from the broadcaters and as these are produced in advance they don't reflect what is happening in real time. If you want to be certain to get all of any program set your TiVo to record extra time when you set it to record.

Btw Your last comment is a little less than helpful to the volunteers that are ensuring the TiVos we are using are still functional.

I'll second Islander's last comment. This is a voluntarily run service now so if you expect something then we in turn expect you to volunteer.

If the end of programs is such an issue then why don't you just set them to extend by 30 minutes or so?

Everyone appreciates that people volunteer. How about I put my hand up? Maybe then we would be up with daylight savings?

Everyone appreciates that people volunteer. How about I put my hand up? Maybe then we would be up with daylight savings?

Today I updated this page:
http://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view/S3FAQ/WhatNeedsDoingForOzTiVo

The main thing that regular people can help with is the daily guide changes, where we are looking for a volunteer in each city/region. It doesn't need specialised skills, but you need to read emails, use a web browser and have something like 10-60 minutes available each day (or most days). The main benefit is having more accurate TV Guide information for TiVos in your city/region.

What do you mean about daylight savings?
I think OzTiVo S3 daylight savings handling is fairly good now (and usually improves a bit every 6 months). Some of the shows in the TV guide around 2-3am at DST end may be in the wrong order or not quite right, and there is usually a difficulty with TV guide info after 11pm on DST end day in April. Were you thinking of one of those things or something else? And what city or region are you in?
If the time on your TiVo didn't adjust automatically at the right time, then let us/me know what postcode you put in Guided Setup (look in TiVo > Messages and Settings > Account and System Information > System Information > Postal Code if you are not sure) and what happened or didn't happen.

I live in Auckland and am more than happy to help out. Is it across all channels in freeview?
The thing with daylight savings was that, while everything was in the right order, it appeared that the additional hour hadn't been accounted for. A movie that started at 1:00am on Sunday 7 April should have the following listing start at 2:00am. It didn't. Although, now everything is just fine.
Do you have my email in the system? I am going away for a couple of days from today but I will be back on Thursday 11th April.
If there seems to be an issue with the Tivo guide I normally check here..... https://freeviewnz.tv/tvguide/whats-on/ That seems to have everything I need.
Anyway - I'm back Thursday. Lynette. :)

Sorry, I don't know anything about how New Zealand guide info is gathered or processed, it is quite separate from Australian guide info (which I do know about). If you don't get any responses here, you might want to ask again in a NZ-specific forum.

My tivo is running great thanks again to everyone here.

Change your Recording settings, Change the Ending time of the recording to Extended. It is unfortunate, but TV stations who tell you the Show goes from 10:30pm to 1:30am like to start shows 10 mins late and end 10 mins late just to annoy us.

I'm suddenly getting completely weird data for the channel SBSTWO-Vic. It looks fine in the wiki interface but when I fetch it with tv_grab_oztivo, (v1.36 2010/06/22), the programs are completely different! It's not happening for other channels though.

For example, the guide shows first program today was "Swamp Thing" but the xml data I end up with says it's "Wheels On Meals". I can't find that in the SBS line-up at all, I think it must be from an entirely different channel and not one I'm subscribing to. The same applies to SBSTWO-NSW.

Anyone seen something like this?

If I fetch http://xml.oztivo.net/xmltv/SBSTWO-Vic_2020-08-19.xml.gz I see the data is nothing like what is shown in the web interface at https://hd.oztivo.net/tivo-bin/stationday.pl?daynum=18493&station=SBSTWO-Vic .

It looks like it's actually the data for SBS World Movies rather than Viceland.

The channel listing file http://www.oztivo.net/xmltv/channels.xml.gz lists SBSTWO-Vic as "SBS World Movies Vic" which is wrong. There is no Viceland in the channel list. Somehow there seems to be a database collision between the two channels at the server.

Good afternoon,

I have been off the air with my Tivo since November 11 2019, whence our home was attacked by bushfire.

Yesterday I restarted my Tivo, which was working beautifully beforehand, but now it does not want to gain any tv guide information, after being attached for more than 24 hours.

My network connection is fine, and it runs through all the tests normally, but will not reveal any tv guide info, other than "to be announced".

Again this afternoon I connected to the server, and it went through the loading and installation proces. counting up from 1% onwards, and I left it to it.

On return it was on live tv, and I then pressed the guide button, but it is still the same.

Any ideas on what I should try next please?

Many thank you's.

In my log, the last line Saya

Aug 24 11:52:40 (none) ProgramDataUtil (4468): Err station starts with day 18500 today is 18498

When I go to the dial code it shows 000, however in my system information it indicates the dial in code as 140,TFA=0

Network diagnostic says port config test failed
DNStest succeeded

Testing connection has 3 X ticks

Some tv guide info has arrived.
I was on channel 80 tonight watching Halifax Retribution, but when I looked at the tv guide it told me I was watching the 9 morning show with Karl Stefanovic etc.

Seems a clock setup error or something, yet when I change channels etc, the info bar is showing the correct time.

Hoping someone with knowledge may look in here soon and give me a leg up with some help....thanks all..

Can anyone tell me, that if I reset the box to try to get the data, do I need to save any mac numbers or anything, so it will just reboot properly, and maybe fix its glitch

I have two OzTiVos
Tivo1 has software version 11.3b8-01-2-633
TiV02 has software version 11.3b10.2017.10.11-1506-01-2-Z-633

Both work OK except that TiVo1 sometimes has a problem after a service connection. The connection, downloading and loading all progress normally but after the loading is finished there is no guide data available even though the status is shown as "succeeded" and it remains that way no matter how long I wait after the connection. (sounds a bit like the problem reported by "viewer" recently). However if TiV01 is restarted (NOT reset) then all the guide data appears normally. The problem occurs frequently but sometimes it works OK without the need for a restart. TiVo2 never exhibits this behaviour.

Has anyone else observed this?

I assume that it could be fixed by updating the software in TiVo1. Does that require the whole process of installing the system software onto the hard drive as I did after Darren modded the unit. Is there now any easier way to update the software?

If you have a MAK key (home networking package) then I *strongly* suggest you use WinMFS to make a .tbk backup regardless of what you do. Once you lose that unique software on your TiVo (ie a hard disk failure) you will never get your MAK back.

If you don't have a MAK key then it's up to you whether you make a .tbk backup as any oztivo TiVo image will bring it back to life.

Yes. A TiVo with 11.3b8 software needs to have a program called Ticketmaster running. I'll bet the times it says it does not have guide data the TiVo has booted and you see the message in red text on the "Almost there" boot screen "Not Loading Ticketmaster" but when you do boot the TiVo and it successfully has guide data it has white text saying "Loading Ticketmaster"

You can use a pre-modded 11.3b10 software image .tbk file and WinMFS to do it. That will then mean no Ticketmaster software required. That's the difference between 11.3b8 and 11.3b10.

Note my comment in the one post above about losing MAK if this TiVo still has one.

Hi first timer, Melbourne has done the same, I looked at the frequency and some channels are grouped, not sure how that works.
Hopefully someone does or no more Moto GP!

Hi All,

Here in regional NSW (and maybe other areas) Network Nine and Network 10 have swapped their affiliate regional stations. Ten shows were on the regional WIN Network on channels 5* and Nine shows were on the regional Southern Cross network on the 8* channels. They have (as of July 1) swapped. (This takes them back to how they were 5 years ago before Nine got greedy and dropped WIN as an affiliate.)

As per wintv.com.au, for Network Nine shows:

Channel 9 (standard definition) on channel 8
9HD (high definition) on channel 80
9Gem on channel 81
9Go! on channel 82
Sky News on WIN will continue on channel 83 until 9Life commences on that channel on August 1. TVSN on channel 84 and GOLD on channel 85 continue without change.

And for Network 10:

Channel 10 (standard definition) on channel 5
10HD (high definition) on channel 50
10Peach on channel 52
10Bold on channel 53
10Shake on channel 54 (although this is a totally new chanel for regional areas)

What can we do to get the guide updated/corrected?

Glenn

I seem to be missing all guide data at the moment. Not seeing any issue with the connection, just seems there is no info in the download. Postcode is 6000.

Edit - after a manual restart and reconnect it appears to be downloading data but the guide remains blank after it has finished.

Tivo not showing guide data for NZ channels from Friday 22nd March around midday onwards. I have tried directly connecting to network, then re-booting and directly connecting again but still the same. Is it because it hasn't been added or a problem with my tivo? Not sure. Thank you
