Ok, please don't laugh...

Someone came back from the US with A Tivo Serie 2 single tuner and a Trancoder NTSC/PAL/NTSC.
Great.

And, guess what, I plugged the Tivo on our 240 V power system.. and... I have a problem now!

I ve just opened the box and it is not a simple power supply inside, unfortunately.
Someone could help me here? :)

Please let me know,

Thanks

Yes... 240V don't work with most Series 2 TiVo's. The specs on the rear of the TiVo case kind of hint to that :)

If you want the TiVo repaired then feel free to contact me via my website (link in signature).

Fingers crossed that it is only the power supply.

A little late now, but our HowToStartHackingAnS2 (http://minnie.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view/Howto/HowToStartHackingAnS2) wiki on the subject of S2 has the following:

1. Buy an S2 tivo off ebay. Do not get anything with a model number begining with 5 as these are the new 2.5 series tivos and haven't been hacked. Anything begining with a 1 has a 110/240V power supply. Anything begining with a 2 has a small 110V power supply and so you'll need to buy a stepdown transformer, and this model can also can be a problem if you plan on using twin drives because of power drain on startup. But there are solutions available.

Have you asked anyone here about what it takes to get an S2 working here?

Which model did you buy?

Making an S2 work here does require a reasonable ammout of linux skills.

Are you aware some require a prom chip to be replaced before any hacking, and the newer models will not support V4.0 software.

Peter.
